We all know less junk food and more lean meats, fruits and vegetables can assist with heart health, but are you aware of omega-3s? And how much they play in heart health?
Last year, the American Heart Association conducted a study that showed how effective omega-3 fatty acids can be to the heart. Over 2,000 young adults took part in the study. Those with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids showed lower blood pressure than those with low levels of omega-3s. These were young adults. With age, the heart has to work harder and keeping blood pressure down can become more difficult. So, there’s no time like the present to get omega-3s into your system. And this was not the first test conducted which correlated high levels of omega-3s to decreased cardiovascular disease. It provided more supporting data that diets rich in omega-3 fatty acids can keep the heart healthy.
How do you best do that? Eating a lot of fish is a great start. Cold water fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel, and sardines are high in omega-3 levels, and fantastic choices among fish food choices. Not a fan of fish? That’s OK. Vegetable oils, walnuts, and flax seeds are also high in omega-3s. And if those aren’t your fancy, a high quality omega three supplement is the solution. Biomega provides EPA and DHA for cardiovascular and joint health.
The point is…your heart is the most vital muscle in your body, and it needs care. Making sure your diet is rich in fish oil and Omega 3 fatty acids is a positive step to a better, healthier life.
