Balance is something we all struggle with. Trying to find the time to do all of the things we should, want, and need to do. We put so much on our plates that we are always falling behind, never catching up, stressing out over what needs to be done then being frustrated when it doesn’t happen. Then we look at other people and wonder how they get it all done. How come they seem to have time to do it all and have time left over.

Balance looks different for everyone. The key is to prioritize what is important to us. There are always some things we need to do, and no matter how well we plan, there will always be glitches in our day. The point is, we all have 24 hours in each day. It’s up to us how we use them.

One way to see how you spend your time, is to write down everything you do in a day. How much time to you spend checking emails, playing computer games, talking on the phone, driving, working, exercising, doing chores, cooking, shopping, golfing, surfing the net, reading etc. By tracking how you spend your time, enables you to create a plan for your future. What are you doing every day that is really important to you, to your family to creating the life you want? Do you spend more time procrastinating, or with busy work, or are you using your time productively so you have free time to pursue the things you really want to do?

Now that you know where your time goes each day, make a list of the things you would do if you had more time. Then look at where you are spending your time and where you would like to spend your time. What changes do you need to make in daily activities? What will bring balance for you so you can get the important things done? Do you need to let go of some things? Do you need to delegate? Reorganized? Eliminate? Get help?
